Engineering Manager

Job description

A whopping $ 10.5 trillion. That’s the projected annual cost of cybercrime by 2025. We operate in a space where the societal impact is significant: we do what truly matters

So we develop first-in-class cyber security solutions that allow clients to tackle threats sooner, investi-gate deeper, and block cyber predators at the gate. We outmaneuver increasingly sophisticated at-tackers by embedding intelligence at the core® of cyber defense. And we do this for some of the most aggressively targeted organizations out there. Organizations that everyone – you, your friends, your family – should be able to trust unconditionally. Do you want to help build, run, and love those solu-tions? Join us to build our new platform to fulfill our customers threat intelligence, detection, hunting and response needs. A tech job with a profound social impact.

As Engineering Manager, you enable tech teams to code the engines of next-gen security vessels. Solutions that empower cyber threat analysts to detect pesky predators sooner and investigate deeper. If something evil lurks in the Mariana Trench, our customers should be alerted. And know how to act. You are at the helm of the coding effort and coach, inspire, and empower a crew of cross-functional engineers to develop valuable features for our flagship product: the EclecticIQ Intelligence Center.

You work with our product and design teams to ensure we all set sail towards the same horizon (land ahoy!). While your primary responsibilities are coaching and mentoring our Software and QA Engineers, helping them to get to the next level, we also expect you to act as an Agile Coach, continuously improving the team. Of note: to maximize your impact, you need to instill a cohesive mentality in a team of diverse, highly skilled techies, so leadership experience in similar settings is a must. As is a proven ability to set teams up for customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on product and technical roadmaps; continually improve quality, innovation speed, scalability, performance, and (you guessed it) security
  • Generate and implement process improvements, e.g., by experimenting with new ways of working and/or testing new tooling waters
  • Provide the team with direction, govern the software development process, and encourage the team to make tech choices autonomously whenever feasible
  • Make (occasional) contributions to the product architecture and codebase, perform code reviews, and participate in technical design sessions with the rest of the team
  • Develop your team on all levels, create a safe haven for experimentation, encourage feedback, and provide your own (performance) feedback
  • Recruit and hire new talent, interview candidates, facilitate onboarding

Requirements

  • You bring 7+ years of relevant experience to the table, including 5+ years of experience in building large scale (web) applications and 2 years in tech leadership
  • You would name your luxury yachts Python and JavaScript – the loves of your life
  • You have an Agile & DevOps mindset, excellent diplomacy skills, have a proactive attitude and know how to cultivate consensus between departments, teams, and people
  • If you have cybersecurity experience, those shark detecting skills will be a big plus
  • The same goes for a background at product-driven and/or enterprise software companies
  • If you have previously navigated large dataset oceans, that will come in handy. As will Typescript/Javascript, React, Postgres, Elastic Stack, AWS, and cloud computing expertise
